Pits and pumps keep basements dry
Anything below the street has to have its water pumped up and out. Basement carparks, lower ground units and some houses on sloping blocks rely on a pit that collects stormwater or sewage and a pump that empties it.
Nobody notices a pump until it stops. Then the pit fills, and the water has nowhere to go but the basement.

Pump repairs and replacement
We repair and replace sump pumps, stormwater pumps and sewer pumps, and the pipework and valves that go with them. If a pump keeps failing, we look at why: silt and rubbish in the pit, a stuck float, or a pump that's too small for the job.
Alarms and float switches
A float switch turns the pump on when the water rises and off when the pit is empty. If it sticks, the pump either never starts or never stops, and both end badly.
A high level alarm warns you when the water is rising and the pump isn't keeping up. We test, repair and replace floats and alarms so you hear about a problem before the carpark floods.
Planned checks
For strata buildings we can check pits and pumps on a schedule: clear the pit, test the floats and alarm, run the pumps and check the switchboard side is working. It's the cheapest way to avoid an emergency call during a storm, and it can be part of a planned maintenance program.
Common questions
Our basement pump alarm is going off. What should we do?
Call us on 02 9398 1397. The alarm means the pit is filling faster than it's being emptied. We answer 24/7.
Why does our pump keep failing?
Usually silt and rubbish in the pit, a stuck float switch, or a pump that's too small for the water it has to move. We find which it is before replacing anything.
Do you replace sewer pumps as well as stormwater pumps?
Yes. Sump, stormwater and sewer pumps, and the pipework and valves around them.
How often should pits and pumps be checked?
It depends on the building and how much silt gets in, but regular checks are worth it. We can set up a schedule that suits your building.
Can you add an alarm to our pump pit?
Yes. A high level alarm warns you when the water is rising before it overflows.
