Call any time

Some things can't wait until Monday. We answer 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and we aim to get a plumber to you the same day for emergencies across the Eastern Suburbs.

That goes for homeowners and tenants, and for strata managers and property managers with a problem in one of their buildings.

Plumber listening while a customer explains the problem

Emergencies we attend

  • Burst and leaking pipes
  • Blocked and overflowing drains and sewers
  • Hot water system failures
  • Gas leaks
  • Water coming through ceilings

While you wait

If water is going everywhere, turn it off at the main. The video below shows you where to find it in a house or an apartment. If you smell gas, turn it off at the meter if it's safe, get everyone outside and don't use anything that could spark.

Our vans carry pipe locators and drain cameras, so we can find the problem fast. We'll tell you what it is and what it'll cost before we fix it.

Common questions

Do you really answer at 2am?

Yes. The phone is answered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and it's us, not a call centre. If a plumber needs to come out in the night, we'll tell you roughly when to expect them.

Is there a call out fee after hours?

There's no call out fee, day or night. After hours work costs more than a weekday job because someone is getting out of bed, and we'll give you the price before we start so you can decide.

What counts as a plumbing emergency?

Water you can't stop, sewage coming up, no hot water, a gas smell, or water coming through a ceiling. If it can wait until the morning without doing damage, we'll say so and book you in first thing, which is cheaper.

What should I do while I wait?

Turn the water off at the main if it's a leak or burst. Turn the gas off at the meter if you smell gas, get everyone outside and don't use switches or lighters. Keep people out of any room with water coming through the ceiling. The video below shows where the water main usually is.

Do you do after hours work for strata buildings?

Yes, a lot of it. Call us with the building and the unit, and we'll get a plumber there and send the strata manager a report afterwards if one is needed.

These plumbers are great. They come on time, they know what they're doing and the prices are fair. We have used them for strata work and I have also used them myself. Highly recommended!

We have been using McElroy Plumbing for close to 20 years, their response to our calls has been immediate and the problem fixed promptly in a first class manner and the costs reasonable. We recently had a hot water failure and a new one installed within 24 hrs. We would recommend McElroy for any plumbing job.
